Buying a Copper Awning

Instead of a fabric awning, some people love the rich,
sophisticated look of a copper awning. For some strange reason,
many people will shy away from copper, believing it is too
expensive, fragile, discoloring, and so on. The truth about the
copper awning is that there is no better way to make an
impression. Copper has been around for a long time and
interestingly, it is affordable, strong, durable, and depending
on the type of copper you go with, it may or may not change
color.

In fact, copper can be dated back to ancient Greek times and
since then, new technologies have expanded on its uses. You
could put copper in the same category as silver and gold in that
they all have electrical conductivity and high thermal
characteristics. Although for years you seldom saw copper used,
especially as a copper awning, today it has made a new
appearance, becoming the "in thing" for homes and businesses
around the country.

CHOPPER PRICES

Because copper is so affordable and with such rich look, it
makes the perfect awning. The exciting aspect of this is that
you could have the copper awning made out of a single sheet,
giving it a clean, seamless look, perfect for a contemporary or
minimalist style building. On the other hand, you could choose
copper tiles or punch design tiles with great detailing to
create a completely different look, great for a traditional or
even Victorian style building.

Of all metal choices for an awning, copper is by far the most
gorgeous. For people who love weekend projects, making a copper
awning is a viable option. You can purchase sheets for an
affordable price, purchase or download free plans, choose the
one you like, and then follow the instructions. This type of
home improvement project is not only fun to do but the results
will add class to the appearance of your home, as well as value.

In no time, your home will outshine that of your neighbors.

In addition to appearance, a copper awning is also very
efficient. Easy to mold and work with, you do not have to be a
master craftsman to end up with an amazing design. In fact,
many people who have never worked with copper before find they
have an awning up in no time, looking as beautiful, if not more
beautiful than anticipated. Although copper is used for
everyday life, we somehow forget about this material for
enhancing a home.

If you were trying to figure out a way to make your home or
business more impressive without spending a fortune, then this
rich, orange/red metal would be the perfect solution. If you
are not handy, you will find a number of businesses in your
local city or online making and selling a copper awning. If you
order from an online resource, just make sure you triple check
your measurements in that even a slight difference could cause
big problems. Finally, make sure the company you buy from
offers a solid warranty and if online, reasonable shipping
costs. Without doubt, you will not be disappointed by going
with a copper awning.

Copper Roofing Has Many Advantages

Metal rooftops have grown in popularity because homeowners know of their advantages: they can be measured for exact fit so there is little waste during installation and the material is light weight, making it easy and inexpensive to transport to the construction site.

Copper has become one of the most popular metals for roofing even though it is one of the most expensive ones. Copper has been used in buildings for hundreds of years and is known for its durability. It develops a patina as it oxidizes that helps protect it from the weather as it ages.

CHOPPER PRICES

When it comes to purchasing copper roofing supplies homeowners and renovators should do their homework to get the best price. Installation of a new roof requires professional help. Most people ask the installer to order the materials for the roof, but negotiation can drive down the cost of the job.

However, if you have a small budget you can order the materials directly from a wholesaler and simply hire the contractor to perform the work. If you are looking to save even more money, some companies offer copper roofing panel "seconds." Usually these roofing products do not come with a warranty. (Industry standards usually include a 50 year warranty.)

Before you negotiate price with the contractor, talk with an architect to make sure that a copper rooftop best fits your needs. A landscape architect can also assess the aesthetics of your future roof and give you advice on color and design.

You can also search the Internet to see examples of different types of copper rooftops. Go to an Internet search engine such as Google or Yahoo and type in "copper roofing." You will see pages of links to wholesalers that provide pictures of different designs and colors in their portfolio.

Once you've done your preliminary research it's time to start working to get the best bid from a contractor. Remember, when you do retail shopping you can look for the best price at a store. With a contractor you have to enter into negotiations to save money. Negotiations require more work, but the payoff will be correspondingly larger.

You should call it least five companies to get bids. Drive around the neighborhood and jot down the names of contractors doing work in your area. They will have signs up with their phone numbers at their work sites. Also, ask friends and family for recommendations. Each contractor will send a representative to your house to look at what needs to be done. The contractor will assess the cost of labor, materials, and scrap hauling if old materials need to be taken to the dump.

All contractors will mark up the cost of the materials to generate a profit. However, by comparing prices of different companies you will have a better understanding if the markup is reasonable or not.

After you get a few offers you can take the lowest bid to the company you want to work with most and ask them if they are willing to meet the price. If they cannot and you really want to work with them, ask if they can meet you halfway. Be sure to take the competing bid to your favorite vendor in writing so they know to take you seriously.

Copper Wire Theft Prevention For Your AC Unit

It's on CNBC. It's on CNN. It's on MSNBC. All of the financial pundits on these networks reluctantly agree, the real estate market is far from bottoming. The worst, unfortunately, is yet to come. You can either choose to become a victim of or a victor over this ever increasing epidemic. The right information is the difference between the two.

It's spring again. Rain falls. Flowers bloom. Copper gets stolen. It's something you don't normally think about, but it is that serious. It is still a bit cool outside from time to time so controlling the temperature is not really a problem. However, as always, there is that stretch of days where spring brings summer temperatures. You go to adjust the ac unit for your family at home or the employees in your office only to find that nothing happens.

CHOPPER PRICES

You immediately feel that this is just an oversight and is surely a maintenance or service issue. Until you go outside to actually take a look at your unit, that your worst fear is realized: everything is there except the copper wires that carry the coolant through your ac unit. Congratulations, you are the latest victim of an increasingly common crime of copper wire theft. Instantly, a simple solution has turned into an expensive repair that was totally preventable.

When a home or business is vacant, owners instinctively make sure the doors and windows to their properties are closed and locked. Some will go as far as to make sure the grass is cut. However, even the savviest owner rarely gives a second notice to what is going on with the most expensive appliance they have outside of their property. The selling point that the average owner makes about a property having central air is taken for granted and ends up becoming a deal breaker because you decided not to protect your unit from copper wire theft.

Copper wire theft is on the rise. From 2003 to 2008, prices for scrap copper have increased fivefold. All types of structures have fallen victim, such as community centers, libraries, homes, and commercial buildings. Copper is making its comeback for one very strange reason: recent valuations of scrap copper place it at up to 90% of the value of newly-manufactured copper, so it's not hard to see its lure for thieves.

To make sure that your home or business has a comfortable summer, be sure to continue to check your ac unit in the off season, make sure no damage has been done during that time, turn it on periodically just to ensure it is still working, and be sure to invest in an ac cage unit from AC Armor that will protect your investment for as long as you own your ac unit.

Why Lined Copper Pots and Pans Are the Best Cookware

Since its first modern pots and pans, copper cookware has been a favorite choice among professional chefs and serious home cooks around the world. Aside from being one of the most beautiful cookware, copper is among the best material for cooking that can yield perfect food and the most delicate sauce.

Copper cookware is expensive as the pans are well-lined with stainless and nickel linings to prevent the copper from reacting to certain foods. In fact, higher quality pieces have copper extended all the way up the sides to ensure quality. The insides are generally lined with a combination of the best metals like tin, nickel, aluminum, or stainless steel. Copper pots and pans are heavy enough to sit steadily on burners and are practically light for easy and comfortable lifting that offers convenience and safety in the kitchen.

CHOPPER PRICES

Copper cookware only requires an initial of moderate heat to achieve best results yet has almost ten times the ability to conduct heat than stainless steel and glass, and twice over that of aluminum. It is excellent in distributing heat evenly without burning food onto the base of pans which is better to use for high temperature cooking without damaging the pot by overheating. This conductivity makes copper responsive to about all cooking requirements, making it among the top reasons why a large number of chefs prefer to use copper material.

Copper cookware is easy to clean and maintain. Just hand wash with warm soapy water right after use and then let dry naturally. Be careful with the inside surface so you will not scratch and damage its properties. For tarnished areas, rub lemon and salt onto the pot. Salt and vinegar even work like magic. Do not use abrasive cleaning fluids or scourers to scrub the pans. For cooked-on food that is hard to remove, soak cookware overnight in hot soapy water. Use a soft cloth when washing the inside to keep the faultless gleam of your cookware.

Tin-lined copper pots and pans with a solid and heavy bottom are considered the best, but the most expensive are those with stainless steel or nickel linings as these metals are not easy to melt compared to tin. When you decide to buy copper cookware, it's like buying pots and pans that you can pass to your children and to your children's children. You will not only pass to them a great investment but a thing they themselves will be amazed at how easier it is to cook in a copper cookware.

There are quite a few brands of cooper cookware available in the market today, but the most popular and trusted is Mauviel. The company has been manufacturing unsurpassed quality of copper cookware for professional and commercial markets since 1830. You will be captivated with the classiness of a Mauviel brand copper cookware that is truly smart. If you are a serious cook and you really want the absolute blend of durability, competence and elegance, then consider the price and buy a copper cookware set for your kitchen now.

Scrap Copper Value

Scrap copper is one of the most valuable junk in the planet. This is because copper is very difficult to acquire and you cannot acquire it in large quantities in one location. It is very important to us because it is used in every machine and other mechanical device. The mining process is also a tedious task, not to mention dangerous and difficult. This is the reason why the copper price has greatly increased and its industry is one of the largest selling industries in the planet and it surely has taken its seat amongst the prominent industries in the global market.

Another thing that makes copper valuable is that the supply is exhaustible, meaning soon we will run out of copper, it is not renewable. That is why you shouldn't be surprised if the rate of copper prices is continuously on the rise. This is, like I said earlier is due to the dwindling availability of mined -copper and the ever - rising rise on the demand. If you could see it in a perspective, there is an imbalance between the supply and the demand that is why the price is steady on the rise. This is the problem that we cannot escape.

CHOPPER PRICES

This is also the reason why there are an abundance of transactions going on in the black market. They have turned copper into something so valuable. However, you can't find legit prices on the black market and it is also dodgy if you look at them there. Anyway, try checking the prices from the real market. Usually, the prices of scrap copper is around half of the price of a more refined copper. However, if you are hard working enough and you try your best in researching and finding sources, you can get a decent profit out of scrap copper.

Scrap copper can be acquired in different legit sources if you want to. If you didn't know, copper is the most widely used metal in most homes. Every corner of your home has copper in it but I am not going to suggest that you scrape it off your walls and stuff. I'm just saying. But what I'm trying to make out here is that scrap copper can be found on many sources, even your junk. You could produce profit from your junk, you have to simply strip the copper out of the stuff that you have for junk. Recycle and sell it.

In the house, you could check your old frames and chandeliers and stuff. If they ain't going to use it no more, you can strip the copper out of it. Also, you should check out your garage. Man, the garage is a copper haven. You could find twice as much copper from here than from any part of your house. Just remember, only strip off those things that you ain't gotta use. Do not mutilate those stuff that is still useful or you gon' get some spanking from your daddy. Scrap copper is valuable.

Current Copper Pricing and the Effect it Has in the Wire and Cable Industry

Copper is very difficult to deal with in the wire and cable field. I work for a wire and cable distributor and we have to keep a close eye on copper pricing every day. Since copper is a commodity it's very volatile and could change the price of a cable significantly. Since the beginning of the year copper has risen from 1.66/lb to 2.55/lb. This can be seen online and you'll see that copper actually went up as high as 4.20/lb in May of last year. A standard item in the field is a 4/0 Welding Cable which has about 0.60 lbs of copper per foot! When copper is at 2.195/lb and it changes by .10/lb the 4/0 Welding cable changes 5% in price! This is a normal daily routine in the wire and cable field. When you're only making roughly 10% per order it's very difficult to keep on top of pricing to your customers.

Some of the cables sold aren't as effected by copper because of the insulation on each conductor, the fillers and the over all rubber jacket. Since there's a lot more involved in the making of the cables there's more room to work on the pricing. Welding cable, Solid Bare Copper, electrical wire, THHN, and USE-2 are the most difficult because you only have the bare copper stranding and the insulation. So if copper goes up 5%, like I said above, the price of the cable goes up 5% with it. It's tough for a lot of people to understand and the reason I understand it so well is because I deal with it everyday.

CHOPPER PRICES

Inventory is also an issue in the copper wire and cable industry because if copper goes down 10% in a week (very likely) then everything in your inventory is worth 10% less. This happened last year when copper hit 4.20/lb in May 2008 it started to drop rapidly down to 3.16/lb in 3 months and it went under 2.00/lb from there. Now copper is back up again and it's comfortably at 2.195/lb as of today.

It's very difficult to keep track of if you're not in the industry so I put the Copper updates on our website so that you can see the copper history whenever needed. Please email us with any questions you might have about copper, wire or cable and we'll do our best to answer them for you!

Is a Boxer For Your Family?

If you are considering getting a dog, I highly recommend you do research. Search the internet, check out books in your local library and even purchase a few magazines such as Dog Fancy. Check out forums, speak to local veterinarians too.

dixie chopper

I did my own research years ago when my former husband wanted to get a Boxer dog. I learned so much just from other owners of the breed. If you have children whether small or teenagers, Boxers are great dogs. They have a wonderful temperament around children. In fact, many owners will tell you that Boxers seem to be naturally drawn to children and are protective of them.

DIXIE

After witnessing a horrible attack on a friend of mines two year old son 10 years ago, I did not want anything to do with dogs. My former husband had been given a dachshund as a gift. 17 stitches in the little boy and medical bills for us to pay was the final straw for me.

I love dogs as do my children. But after that attack I wasn't even sure I wanted anything to do with dogs anymore. But two years later, my former husband nudged me into looking at Boxers. I was very hesitant at first. I knew nothing about them although I assumed that since they looked like bull dogs they had a tendency to be mean.

That was far from the case. He sent me to Boxerworld.com to read through the forums and articles they had posted from all over the world.

After a few months of research online and books I bought, I got excited about having a dog again.

In December 2000, we bought our first Boxer dog. Our daughter was two years old at the time so her and Dixie Belle would grow up together.

It didn't take long before Dixie became very close in our family. Most everyone loved her. She was the perfect colors of brown and white. We didn't crop her ears since I thought it was cute to have round ears.

Dixie went a lot of places with us. Everywhere we went people wanted to pet her and she loved it.

Eventually Dixie became known as the "Nanny Dog." She was very protective of children including our daughter. She was a laid back dog with very little if anything that would bother her.

Our daughter could pull her tail, ears or just some skin and Dixie would not even flinch. She preferred to be around children who would come over to visit. It didn't matter what they did to Dixie she Never growled, barked or nipped. My daughter once put her fist in Dixie's mouth (her dad would wrestle and play with Dixie). She didn't do a thing except slobber on her hand.

You could pet her while she ate her food or drank water too.

Dixie did hate to have her nails clipped but she never bit me.

Boxers are characters. They will sit in an automobile like a human being. I cannot count how many times people beside us in traffic would look over and just laugh.

In the mornings we would wake up with a Boxer hanging over us with her cold, wet nose to ours. Sometimes she would give wet kisses. It didn't matter though because she loved us all.

There was one time Dixie was excited my mom came over to visit. So much so, that when mom went to leave Dixie attempted to leave with her. We had to pretend as if she was going for a ride by opening the passenger door to moms car. She got in but then we couldn't get her out.

Boxers in general love people. They are very gentle in nature and very little bothers them.

The only thing about Boxers is that you have to be an active person. They love to exercise. If you have a backyard (which I recommend you have) that is great place for boxers to exercise. Just make sure you interact with them as they are like children. If they want attention and it is not there then they can rebel in ways your children also do and you won't like.

When it gets cold or very hot, they do not do too well outside so it is best to keep them indoors. They have a very short coat of fur so it gets hard for them to maintain their temperature. Our Boxers stayed inside most of the time. They did have access to going outdoors which they did often on their own.

Boxers are not high maintenance dogs. All you have to do is make sure their claws are trimmed.

The draw back for us was when we got a second Boxer. This time we got a male boxer named Scout. Scout was also a great dog, he was just twice Dixie's size. When Dixie had her first litter of pups four of them were solid white. Everywhere we read was not good about the solid white ones. They have a tendency to be blind, deaf and a higher chance of diseases and death. Within a week two of them died. The other two were adopted. Some how Dixie also passed on parvo despite the fact she had been vaccinated. We believe this is why most of them died.

As far as other animals go, Dixie got along with most of them. At least until she got attacked by a cat. Cats were on her bad list but other than that she loved playing with other dogs big and large. When we had to move into the city she didn't mind the company of our neighbors dogs. In fact, my daughter let the others in to "play."

Of all the dogs I have ever had the Boxer has been the best dog. Just the Boxer breed changed my attitude about dogs in general since I believed dogs were bad to have with children. Research was the greatest thing I could do for myself and my family. I would have never taken that initial step and let go of my fears. I do still stick by what vets and animal shelters will tell you: Dogs can never be completely trusted.

No dog is perfect. It is just that some breeds have a better temperament than others when it comes to children. Boxers are one of them.

How to Create Green Patina on Copper Crafts For a Vintage Look

A patina can be defined as a thin layer of colored oxidation which occurs on some metals over time, such as the green or gray rust on copper or bronze. The romantic name is verdigris: Think of crusty old copper roofs or a weathered bronze statue. When making crafts using natural copper, adding a green patina can create the old-world appearance of a vintage artifact.

Here are five techniques to add patina to natural copper - and one outrageous shortcut. But before you start: Clean the copper to remove any grease or coating. With these recipes, be very careful with chemicals or ammonia: wear chemical gloves and work in a ventilated area. The solutions can be applied to the copper by spray, brush or sponge. The patina usually appears after the copper has dried completely. It may take several applications and results can vary wildly.

CHOPPER PRICES

Okay, ready? The first four recipes are for the purists who must do everything from scratch.

Apply a mild solution of 20% salammoniac (found at metal supply stores) dissolved in 80% distilled water.Apply a solution of 50% Dormant Spray (Lime-Sulfur Fungicide found at garden supply stores) and 50% distilled water.Apply a solution of salt (10%), ammonium chloride (10%), liquid ammonia cleaner (20%), and wine vinegar (60%). Ammonium chloride can be purchased from chemical suppliers.Put the copper in a plastic or glass air-tight container. Cover the copper with a light layer of salt and put an open container of ammonia with it. Seal the container overnight.Purchase a copper patina solution at your craft store and follow the directions. This always works. And one outrageous shortcut: Sponge or brush on an imitation patina using blue, green and gray craft paints. Use your best antiquing techniques of dabbing and wiping. It is much faster and much more controllable than chemical mixtures.Verdigris patinas can be delicate, so protect your final dry copper surface with a clear finish like polyurethane or lacquer. Have fun making instant antiques!

Copper Roof Vent

Roof vents are becoming very popular today as more and more people find that these kind of vents help cool the house in an effective and nice way. The use of roof vents uses a lot of logic because heat rises up so catching this heat as it goes up and gets into the vent to travel out of the house.

When thinking of a good material to use as a cooling unit like this, one that has to get rid of the heat and must also suffer the effects of heat passing through it, you must think of some material that is strong and reliable and this is in most cases copper. The copper is a very good decision because of its unique features, it is used in many cases when it needs to suffer heat and still function and not melt, it is also relatively easy to maintain and clean and not so expensive to repair and replace.

CHOPPER PRICES

The people looking and using vents usually means that they have such a heat build up in their home they desperately need some relief, and some assurance that they are getting the finest product that will keep their house cool for a significant time. The copper roof vet will do just that, just like some consider the copper to be the best cookware material due to its resistance to heat the roof vent is another great use for copper materials which demonstrate once again that copper is the way to go when looking for some guaranteed results.

The copper roof vent can come in a few different sizes and shapes, one of them is the roof vents sleeve, like a cylinder providing a way for the heat to exit the house and not allowing animals into the house this is one of the preferred vents, or the vent cap which is like a hat, preventing water from entering the vent and allowing the heat out.

If you are on the market for a vent or a roof vent you should research this market because there are many specialists and special shops that might have advanced models or even unique designs to go with your house look, as with all markets there is a difference of prices and quality so you better make sure that you are getting something for your needs. In general you should fit your needs and be as effective as possible, as well as try and have some design to it as it will be visible, the one feature you must look for is durability, this is something that will be exposed to the outside and will have to prevent water and animals from entering the house, make sure that you are covered by a warranty, support and help in cases something goes wrong with the vent.

Today's vents are advanced and better then ever before, make sure you got the right roof vent. If used correctly and maintained you can have a simple and powerful way of getting a cooler house and significantly reduce the heat.

What Market Fundamentals Can Affect the Copper Futures?

Copper ranks third in world metal consumption after steel and aluminum. Copper is the best non-precious metal conductor of electricity. In addition, copper's exceptional strength, ductility, and resistance to creeping and corrosion, makes it the preferred and safest conductor for building wiring. Copper is also used in power cables, and low voltage applications. Copper is also an essential component of energy efficient motors, transformers and automobiles.

When you are considering a trade in the copper market some of the basic fundamentals that you should consider are:

CHOPPER PRICES

1. Supply The major refining nations include the United States, Japan, Chile, Canada, Zambia, Band the European Union. Copper and copper alloy scrap compose a significant share of the world's supply. The largest international sources for scrap are the United States and Europe. Chile, Indonesia, Canada and Australia are the major exporters while Japan, China, the European Union and Philippines are the major importers. World copper mine production through exploration of new mines and expansion of existing mines is a major factor that affects copper supply and pricing.

2. Supply Disruptions Strike periods that occur with expiration of labor contracts have a significant effect on copper prices. Additionally, earthquakes, shipping problems and political unrest in Chile, Peru and South Africa can cause a decrease in supplies of copper and cause copper futures to rally.

3. Demand The largest refined copper-consuming nations have long been the industrialized countries with large manufacturing bases. The major copper-consuming nations are the European Union, the United States, Japan, Russian, and China. Since the 1950's, the trend has been toward increased consumption by the Asian countries, particularly Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, mainly to support export-oriented fabrication industries. More recently, China has become a major user of copper and accounts for an increasing amount of demand for copper.

4. Inventory Stocks LME and NYMEX are the two international markets where copper trades. Changes in the inventory stocks in LME and NYMEX warehouses provide future price direction for the copper market.

5. Copper Supply Reports The main report for copper futures is the Copper - High Grade Warehouse Stocks. This report indicates whether copper supplies are increasing or decreasing.

These are just some of the basic fundamentals to keep in mind when you are considering a trade in the copper market. Therefore, before opening up a commodity account to trade copper you should consult with a licensed commodity broker that follows the copper market to discuss investment strategies.

DIXIE

The Royal Montreal Golf Course was founded in 1873 when eight men also formed the Montreal Golf Club. The Club moved a few times, in 1896 it moved to Dixie in the parish of Dorval. Now you can find the Queen of Angels Academy for Girls at the Dixie clubhouse location.

In 1959 the Club moved to Ile Blizard and 45 holes were made, where they still stand and are very highly ranked among the golf courses of the world.

Most recently, in 2007, Royal Montreal hosted the Presidents Cup. During this event, the best non-European players of the world competed in an international team against the top 12 PGA tour players in the United States. There is really no end to the rich history of the Royal Montreal Golf Course!

The Courses

The Blue Course

The Blue Course is challenging and requires that you are not a beginner in order to succeed at it. The greens are tiered and have been since the course was renovated in 2004 by Rees Jones. The 14th hole was the most popular during the President's Cup making it a great place for new memories and great golf successes.

The Blue Course is by far the most famous and well-known at the Royal Montreal Golf Course. The other holes are still wonderful golfing opportunities, which we will discuss here.

The Red Course

This course is a wonderful challenge for golf players who want to test their accuracy. The greens are smaller and close together, making them a great test of accuracy.

The Dixie Course

The Dixie Course is the finest choice for the beginner players. Whether they are young or elderly, they can find this course to be a wonderful test for developing their new skills. While golfing, it is important to always find a course that you feel comfortable with, especially if you are beginning. Campfire Magic - Make Your Campfire Come Alive

Campfire magic. No, we are not going to go into strange magic tricks, what we are going to do is tell you how you can add some chemicals to your fire and create a dazzling spectacle of colors what will amaze everyone.

Chemicals

Adding a small amount of chemicals to a hot burning fire can have an 'Ooooh-aaaah' effect. It's important to do these only after all cooking has been done on the fire and when there is little wind so the smoke can rise up rather than into campers' faces. You may be able to purchase these chemicals in a grocery or dry goods store, in the laundry or cleaner section. Find copper sulfate in swimming pool supplies. You may even try the local drug store.

Find copper sulfate in swimming pool supply stores. Epsom salts, borax, and calcium chloride may be found with laundry/cleaning supplies. Copper Chloride, Strontium Chloride, and others my be best found at fireworks supply companies. Practice before using them at a campfire so you know how much to use and how to best apply for maximum effect.

Listed here are some chemicals and the flame color they produce.

Copper Chloride BLUE flame

Borax

(laundry) LIGHT GREEN flame

Copper Sulfate

(tree root killer for plumbers) GREEN flame

Strontium Chloride RED flame

Potassium Chloride

(water softener salt) PURPLE flame

Calcium Chloride BLUE flame

Lithium Chloride PINK flame

Alum GREEN flame

Sodium Chloride

(table salt) ORANGE flame

Magnesium Sulfate

(Epsom salts) WHITE flame Sugar sprinkle into fire for tiny sparks

Powder Coffee Creamer throw a handful into the flames above the fire for small sparkly flashes

Flour toss a small amount into flame to make a flash flame

Iron filings toss a small bit into flame to make gold sparks

Powdered aluminum toss a small bit into flame to make silver sparks

Magnesium shavings toss a small bit into flame to make very bright silver sparks

There are many ways to get the chemicals into the fire. The bottom six chemicals can be simply tossed into the fire in small amounts. Toss them sparingly for the best effect. Use an old tea spoon or table spoon.

For all of the rest you will need to prepare the chemicals at home before hand. You can purchase paraffin blocks or you can use old candle wax from around the house or pick some up at a goodwill store or a Salvation Army store.

Using small paper Dixie cups, pour in about ¼ inch of a chemical into each cup. Melt the wax in a double boiler. Pour just enough wax into the cup on top of the chemical and using a stir stick gently mix the two together. You want to make sure each of the little pieces of chemical is coated with tax.

Once cooled, you may cut off the part of the Dixie cup that is not needed. Just toss one of these little dandies into the hottest part of the campfire and get ready for a good show. You may want to mix a couple of chemicals together for an even better display of campfire magic.

Another idea for the campfire is to make what traditionally is called a Yule Log.

Instead of using it in the fireplace you can use it to create the campfire magic. Be careful that your children stay away from the coloring chemicals they can be harmful. To make these logs you must use regular, not shiny, newspaper.

This is something you may want to do during those cold winter nights as they take at least a month to dry.

Tightly roll and tie the newspapers about the size of a fireplace log.

In a bucket, mix the ingredients, 2 pounds of coarse salt, 2 pounds of bluestone and 2 gallons of boiling water. Add in any of the coloring chemicals as above. One ounce of each color.

Place the rolled up newspaper rolls into the bucket and let them absorb all of the liquid. After a couple of days, take them out of the bucket and place them on a rack to dry for a month.

Once dried take them along for the first trip and create fantastic campfire magic for the whole family to enjoy. Place one in the fire once it is nice and hot and it will burn for a long time giving off many beautiful colors.

The Multi-Purpose 5 Iron

I firmly believe that there should be a 5 iron tournament!

dixie cup dispenser

One club, one ball, one golfer and his wits.

DIXIE

No bulky bags to manage, prancing nymph-like freely along the fairways and whistling Dixie through a cheese-filled Brady Bunch smile...Ya Right!

You see, I have done it. (Prancing and Dixie whistling and Brady Bunch smile excluded, usually.)

When I was younger my father advised me to practice my game using what he called "the most versatile club in your bag".

"This club can do just about anything, I mean anything" he would articulate wisely.
Feeling somewhat like the kid in the kung-fu series, I would reply, "What do you mean (master)?".

"Well" he would reply, a deep look of serious contemplation resting on his right eyebrow. "If you play the ball off your left foot and tilt the shaft back, you can simulate the 7, 8 and 9 irons".
Flabbergasted, I made no retort but stood like a wide-eyed bunny rabbit seconds prior to becoming roadkill.

"Ya", he would continue, his voice becoming more animated as he mistook my fear for enthusiasm, "And if you play the ball off your right foot and slightly close the face, she acts like a putter".

He eagerly gazed upon my countenance awaiting some sign of revelation.

Not wanting to appear rude, after all he seemed to feel like he had just imparted some golf holy grail secret and was expecting a sniper to "take him out" from the clubhouse toilet window for his act of disobedience. I responded the only way possible.

"Huh?" The sound kind of forced its way out. "Ahem, that's interesting" I cajoled, hoping it would make him stop.

"And"....he paused...his head glancing at the toilet window just to be sure, "If one plays two good 5 irons from center position one can easily match the best drive" he finished, like an awestruck kid talking about his new shiny bicycle.

There was a long silence as we stood with our eyes locked like two gunfighters preparing to draw.

Then, he handed me a 5 iron, winked wisely and walked away.

I don't remember how many rounds I played with just a 5 iron, but it was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received concerning the game.
My whole game improved and upon returning to my full set to play a round, I noticed a vast improvement in my technique.

So, come on guys...Play 5 iron 4 ball this Saturday and test your skill !!!

Custom Chopper Build It, Or Buy It?

Like many motorcycle enthusiast, I too love chopper's from the extreme detail of OCC choppers to the Bad Boy Bikes of Jesse James, there is just one glich, I'm not rich.

There are 2 basic approaches to getting what we are after, buy or build. Obviously both approaches have their own unique drawbacks and as you may have guessed there is quite a bit of cost in each route.

CHOPPER PRICES

Buying a chopper is by far the fastest, easiest and in many cases the safest route to take. I allow it is the fastest way because the bike is already built for you, easiest because you just have to have the money and safest because in most cases these bikes are built by professionals. If you are prepared to buy a chopper, compromise is the operative word. You have to be able and willing to weigh what you want in a chopper against what you can afford in a chopper. In my experience what I want in a chopper usually doesn't even come close to reflecting what I can afford. Unfortunately through most of my shopping I have found even used name brand choppers like OCC, Jesse James, Ironhorse are all well out of my price range. At best your looking at a bike that is 3 to 5 years old and still cost as much as a new Harley.

However, the benefits to buying a name brand or professionally built chopper are still ever present. First, safety. The welds and precision that the bike is assembled with is generally unparalleled by the novice builder. (I'm not saying it can't be accomplished by a novice builder.) Second, Veh. Registration. This is one of the aspects that is often over looked when people jump into building their own chopper. When a chopper is built from the ground up, it has no V.I.N. (vehicle identification number or serial number) which makes it very hard for the private citizen to register. People who build these bikes for a living usually have this problem worked out with the corporation commission in their state and understand what steps must be taken to register the cycles legally. This problem is often solved by buying a prefab frame from a respectable frame shop or company.

Now to build, you must look first at your mechanical and metal working capabilities. Much of the knowledge can be gained with research. The physical act must be supplemented with the right tools. This is the area where I find a lot of people overlook a large cost. Having the right and dependable tools at your disposal is priceless, however the price of the tools can sometimes be staggering. Wrenches, mig welder, cutting torch, air compressor, air cutoff, grinder and impact wrenches, frame jig this list could last for pages. The number of tools needed to build a chopper from scratch is substantial. Your capabilities with a welder must be better than average.

Chopper Kits come in all shapes and sizes. Many of these kits are complete packages with everything needed (except the tools) to build a chopper with exception of paint. The kits generally come straight metal or primered. These produce some exceptional looking choppers for around ,000 and a lot of elbow grease. As I mentioned earlier, knowledge is a must, don't go in blind. (try looking at the HR3 chopper kits, they are great looking bikes)

Chopper-mod. This is what i call it when you start with a motorcycle and simply alter the triple tree, and extend the forks. I have seen these type's of choppers that are equally appealing. But all and all you can usually tell that they are not a custom. They still have that "store bought" look to them. The price of this option is directly proportional to the brand of bike you start with.

Any way you go when acquiring the Chopper of your dreams is only limited to what you can afford and/or your capabilities to put forth the elbow grease needed. There are yet more options to consider when pursuing a chopper, these are just a few highlights and hopefully some helpful insight.

The Ontonagon Boulder - A Copper Country Legend

As the Glaciers receded from the lands of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, they left behind a great boulder of pure native copper. On a branch of the Ontonagon river thirty-five miles from the mouth, it rested in the waters guarded by 50 foot cliffs and cascading waters untraversable by boat. To get to the boulder meant crossing harsh terrains of several hundred foot peaks and marshy canyons. The boulder rested there for thousands of years, held sacred by local Indian tribes who felt it a glorious gift from the gods.

As the early settlers caught bits of tales of the boulder, explorers would from time to time set off to find it. Those that did brought back stories of the boulder, but due to its location and size, none could move it. The first stories about the boulder held that it was five tons. One early explorer was able to chip a one hundred pound piece from the boulder. Whether many were able to do this despite the hardness of the rock, whether the stories had been exaggerated, or maybe a for a bit of both reasons, the boulder, when finally pried from it's resting place, in actuality weighed 3,708 pounds.

CHOPPER PRICES

There are several stories of how the boulder was eventually won. The one with the most evidence of truth is one of the most colorful stories of Michigan's Copper Rush era.

When negotiations with the Indians were started in 1826, the Government commissioned a party to take the boulder, thinking that their negotiations would be successful. Neither the negotiations nor the recovery party were, but word about the expedition spread rapidly.

Julius Eldred, a merchant from Detroit, came into wind of the stories of the great boulder and grew obsessed with obtaining it for himself. He was not interested in it for the value of the metal, but had visions of making his fortune by putting the boulder on public exhibition. His vision eventually led him to search out the boulder with Samuel Ashmen, a justice of the peace from the Northern Michigan territory who understood the local Indian cultures and language. Julius, with the help of his companion, was able to make purchase of the boulder from the Indians for .00 up front and 5.00 worth of goods when Eldred's crew had the boulder in their possession. Eldred then proceeded back home to gather up the manpower and supplies he would need to bring the boulder home.

Early in 1843 Eldred went back with full gear to retrieve the boulder. He did not realize that Colonel Hammond, of the Plattville, Wisconsin territory was also on the way with a party of men to retrieve the boulder. Little did either of these parties know that the Secretary of State had issued a Colonel White the first exploring permits issued when the purchase from the Indians of the Keweenaw Peninsula area had been signed at about the same time that year.

When White's party reached the boulder they found Hammond's party already there. After a bit of a ruckus, White sold his permit to Hammond's company for an undisclosed sum. Arriving at the boulder with specialized equipment and a full and ready crew of workers, Eldred was surprised to find his boulder being guarded by Hammond's troops. Of course a purchase from the Indians held no merit against a government permit. Once again Eldred was forced to negotiate a price for possession of the boulder. Hammond, with Eldred's check for ,365.00, took his troops and left Eldred and his men to retrieve the prize.

They had to hoist the nearly two ton boulder up the 50 foot cliff, and place it on a flat car the crew had built for it. Then they cleared a four and a half mile track of road over the rough terrain. They laid down 25 feet of railroad track to slide the cart. A second section of track was placed in front of it and as the cart was rolled to the end, the track behind was picked up and placed in front. This also meant anchoring the cart while the tracks were picked up and put down. How long this effort took, there is no record of, but it is said that raising the boulder from the river to the top of the cliff alone took over a week. At the main stream, the boulder was floated on a raft to the mouth of the river where they were once again met by Colonel Hammond himself.

Hammond had been to Detroit where he had tried to cash Eldred's check, but it had not been honored. He demanded the boulder back. Eldred was forced to leave the boulder and go with the Colonel to cash the check. Afterwards, Eldred arranged for a schooner from Copper Harbor to transport the prize. He arrived in Copper Harbor only to find General Cunningham there with orders to seize the boulder in the name of the United States Government. His permit was completely unconsidered. Cunningham had been directed to reimburse Eldred 0.00 for the rock. Being understanding that this was a pittance that did not begin to cover Eldred's expenses, he agreed to allow Eldred to take the boulder back to Detroit, pending an adjustment in the reimbursement by the war department.

Finally Eldred and the schooner reached the mouth of the Ontonagon river again to find his boulder waiting on the raft. So was Chief Okondoken. Once the Chief's goods were delivered to him, the boulder was on it's way back to Detroit with a very weary Julius Eldred. Arriving in Detroit on October 11, 1843, Eldred wasted no time in putting the boulder into an exhibition hall where he charged the public a quarter a head to see the now quite famous rock. His problems now seemed a fortune for the publicity it gave his venture.

The boulder was seized from Eldred by the War Department on November 9th. He was allowed to go with the agents to deliver the boulder personally to it's resting place on display in the yard of the War Department. Julius Eldred was later reimbursed ,664.98 for the boulder by Congress.

How large the boulder was when the Glaciers left it in it's protective resting spot and how many copper hunters chipped away at it over the thousands of years will remain forever a mystery.

Today the Ontonagon Boulder rests at the Natural History building of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, holding within it a quiet testimony to the vibrant histories and legends of the early explorers and prospectors during the settlement of Michigan and the Copper Rush era.

Remnants of Mississippi Culture

DIXIE

Alabama was a major hub for the Mississippi Culture during 1,000 to 1,600 AD. Remains of this culture have been found in Moundville, a major city. The archeological site at Moundville has been able to preserve the artifacts of this culture, so future generations may study and enjoy them.

Mississippi River

The majority of the land in Alabama is made up of a gentle slope towards the Mississippi River. The remaining land in the North is hilly, and the Mississippi creates numerous natural features such as rivers, valleys, streams, fountains and lakes.

Natural Bridge Rock

This is one of the world's most unique, as well as the longest, natural bridges. The bridge is about 127 feet long. It's also a gateway to Natural Bridge Park, which has many adventurous activities as well as places of interest suitable for all age-groups. A cross-section of a rock can be found here, which looks like the image of a Native American, as well as the one forming the back of a nickel.

Marshall Space Flight Centre & U.S. Space and Rocket Centre, Huntsville

It's the Space Research Center as well as the propulsion center, for NASA's space program. Various space camps organized at the U.S. Space and Rocket Visitor's complex offer a thrilling experience to youngsters from across the country. The Center also features a Rocket Garden, 4-D Theatre, Space Museum, Space Shuttle Missions, and a NASA Visitor Complex.

Chopper Tattoos - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly About Chopper Tattoos

Since I was a kid I was always interested in the bad ass look. The look that every hot chick dreams of. The man that they cannot tame but again they cannot get rid of you because you have something that no one can offer, the image of excitement, fear, terror and confidence.

I usually look at bikers as the bad guys that gets away with a lot of things. I don't know about you but watching Wild Hogs was pretty funny. I knew that there are people out there that just dress like, smell like and look like a biker but not really one.

CHOPPER PRICES

What really gets me and gets my attention is the tattoos. The tattoos are really the symbol if they are just a posers or the real deal. If you think about it, anyone can get a tattoo but knowing that it will stick on you for life is pretty drastic thing to do. It's a more than a symbol but its a commitment that you're stuck with that image for life (unless you get another tattoo over it like happy feet or bugs bunny), but you know what I mean. Also, getting a chopper tattoo does not mean you're a criminal or looking for trouble everywhere you go. It just means that it's the image you like and the image you want to play.

Since the tattoo is a big issue for the image then it is important to get a good tattoo design. Getting a tattoo design is not a pretty easy tasks. First, chopper tattoos are unique and eye catching. Second, choosing a tattoo design at the tattoo shop is a limited source to pick out, and please do not limit your self on their tattoo designs. Third, make sure you get the tattoo design that connects to the public that you're a bad ass mother that they should respect and not mess with.

What I would do is search online of what tattoo designs you like that would match or integrate with your new chopper tattoo. If you're going to commit to this new lifestyle might as well invest in it because you already spend the money for you bike so might as well spend on a good chopper tattoo design.

There's is one I would recommend that I found online. They offer unlimited access for life and they are experts on only chopper tattoo designs. If you're are interested in checking them out the link will be in the resource section so check them out. Also I like the price for a lifetime access. Because you know you will end up not only getting one but more than one, or two or three.

I hope you'll find the right chopper tattoo design for you that will fit your style. Remember, it's not the bike , or the outfit. Its the symbol on your skin that counts. So make sure you pick the right one, because if you do not. Then you will be back for some more needle time or your tattoo will tell everyone that you ride a moped.

Scrap Metal Prices - Causes for Its Steep Increase

Ever since the business of it has flourished, it prices have also been constantly increasing. All over the world millions of tons of metal it is being recycled and sold to different countries for various purposes. Today it is considered one of the most flourishing businesses in the world.

Factors Affecting the Scrap Metal Prices

CHOPPER PRICES

There are many factors that affect the rates of metal scraps. The prices of it depend on the purity and the quality of the metals. Both copper and aluminium scrap prices have been constantly increasing in the past few years. The increase in the use of these metals is the main reason behind the rise in the scrap metal prices.

The rates of metal scraps also depend on the availability of the metals. The fluctuating market rates are another important factor that affects the change in the metal scrap prices. Different types of metals are used in different forms in our daily lives. Metals which are used for various purposes are recycled including metals used in automobiles and other means of transportations. Since these metals can be recycled and reused the scrap metal prices tend to increase with each passing year.

Aluminium cans, tins, copper wires, containers and so forth are being recycled for various purposes. This is one of the main reasons for the increase in scrap metal prices. Copper which is used in automobiles are quite expensive compared to the other metal scraps. It is recycled for a number of times because of the scarcity of copper metal. Copper is one among the non ferrous metals including metals like lead, aluminium, brass and so forth.

Next to copper metal scraps, the aluminium metal scrap is very expensive as it is less available and in huge demand. Known to be one of the most profitable businesses, the sale of aluminium metal scrap yields huge revenue.

Recycling and reuse of metal scrap is known to reduce pollution to a great extend. Millions of tons of automobile and electronic scrap are recycled and reused today which helps to save the environment in addition to yielding good revenue.

With the growth of industrialization and other remarkable changes in the field of science and technology, the need for metals have increased manifold and so has the scrap metal rates. Both ferrous and non ferrous metals are in great demand due to increase in use of these metals for different purposes.

It depend on the availability of the metals. Due to the shortage of coal and iron ore, there has been a substantial increase in the prices of iron and steel. As iron and steel is widely used for various purposes, it is impossible to meet the growing demands of the consumers. Moreover, it is also used by a number of industries for the manufacture of various electronic and other items.

Due to the growing apprehension of the depletion of metals, scrap metals are used in large quantities. It is also easy to purchase the scrap metals from authentic sellers listed in the business directories.

Stainless Steel Pipe Prices - A New Market Flood?

Plumbing has come a long way in the last 2,000 years. Yes, Ancient Romans are famous for their aqueducts, surely one of mankind's greatest inventions, but what we must also remember is that those same Romans were the first civilization to transport water with the use of lead, a toxin. Now, as it turns out, the Romans lucked out by having high calcium content in their drinking water, which coated their pipes and kept them safe (the same could not be said about their lead cookware, unfortunately).

Since that time, humans have gone through many different materials to convey their water. Wood was used in Britain and Early America, for example. Concrete has been used, a material that Romans would have approved of. In modern America, copper has long been the choice, but with the ever-rising cost of copper, that may be finally changing.

CHOPPER PRICES

Enter stainless steel, an American classic.

More and more, homeowners, businesses, and contractors alike are heading to steel pipe supply companies for their water conveyance needs. Surprisingly, they cite cost, among many other things, as one of their main reasons for changing. Stainless steel pipe prices may not be the same as copper, but as any contractor will tell you, many factors go into the final cost of a product.

First off, steel pipe is lighter than copper, so transporting it is cheaper. The initial savings here may be minimal, but for contractors who make repeated trips to steel pipe supply companies, this means big savings. Contractors will also be quick to note that stainless steel pipe is less likely to be stolen by worksite thieves, who have become a real nuisance to anyone installing copper in the last decade or so.

Home and business owners will also be happy to know that stainless steel pipe prices also lessen over the long term, for many reasons. Stainless steel pipe requires no coating, yet it resists both internal and external corrosion, meaning that it will last longer and require fewer repairs and replacements.

Stainless steel's sturdiness also means that it can be laid over longer stretches than copper, a benefit of particular interest to owners of larger buildings. Longer pipes mean fewer connections, and fewer connections mean less leaking and less overall maintenance.

Stainless steel also has a lower coefficient of friction, meaning it yields higher water pressure at the point of use and is safer for drinking, with any leaching chemicals well below recommended limits.

And if these cost-reducing and health factors aren't enough, business and home owners will be happy to know that stainless steel is completely recyclable material. After its use, or if a piece needs to be replaced, the old pipe may be sold to recoup some of its original cost.

Whether stainless steel pipes will begin flooding the market in the years to come is yet to be seen. However, one thing is certain: for copper, the pressure is on.

An Electric Scooter For MINI Cooper?

The 2010 Paris Motor Show featured a number of interesting models, presenting the latest vehicles offered by European, Asian and American manufacturers as well as several concept designs. One concept present wasn't even a car, rather it was an electric scooter, designed for the niche MINI Cooper brand.

Yes, MINI may go even smaller, by offering a two-wheeled electric bike to complement its vehicle line.

CHOPPER PRICES

The Mini Scooter E Concept is turning heads for several reasons: it is an all-electric bike, features a beautiful contemporary design and it is being proposed by a brand best known for selling chic UK-styled cars. That MINI is owned by BMW should be noted as the German automaker is also a motorcycle manufacturer, making it easy for MINI to enter the segment.

Three Scooters

Three versions of the Mini Scooter E Concept were on display in Paris, scooters most likely to hit the auto show circuit and show up stateside at several popular shows including Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and New York.

Key features of this bike powered by a lithium-ion battery pack includes an onboard cable suitable for plugging in to your home's household outlet. Additionally, the concepts featured a docking station for a smart phone, which can be used to unlock the Scooter. A music player, GPS device and a hands-free phone are among the other amenities included.

Nifty GPS

One cool feature of the GPS is that it will track other Mini Scooters on the road and automatically flash the scooter's headlight at them when passing them. Social networking, scooter style!

Each version of the MINI Scooter will make use of the retro circular instruments and speedometer used in current Mini models. Chrome trim is found on the scooter's body, a design cue harking back to the original Mini Coopers popular throughout the 1960s.

Steep Price

If or when the Mini Scooter E gets green-lighted for production, it will most likely carry a steep price tag with it, perhaps costing ,000 or more. Remember, this is a scooter -- not a motorcycle -- where prices for the former generally start below 00. However, this model is all-electric and features a design scheme that may enhance its value and appeal.

No matter what path BMW decides to take with its Mini Scooter E Concept, the automaker is proving that it is thinking of the broader market in a bid to reach more customers for its iconic MINI brand.

Ice Cream Makers - Manual Vs Electric

Making your own ice cream can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Imagine having total control of how your ice cream is made and what is put into it and how thick it gets. For most people this is a real treat and for others it's a labor of love. There are two main types of ice cream makers out there, electric and manual. With an electric maker you get the wonderful homemade cream without all of the work. You simply put the ingredients into the maker and turn it on and wait, usually around 20 minutes. With a manual maker you put the ingredients into the bowl and then intermittently churn the cream about every few minutes.

dixie chopper prices

Now some people prefer the way that that the hand churned tastes because it tends to have a smoother thicker texture. Others just like the idea of a group of people siting down around the ice cream maker all taking turns making the delicious treat. For the most part everyone is more than happy to help out with the churning, at least if they want any. Others prefer the easy of electric makers. These are perfect for busy families on the go. If you have small kids or only a few people in the house you may not want a manual maker because you don't have enough help with the mixing. The electric makers out there are very powerful now and you rarely have to worry about the motors burning out.

DIXIE

A lot of the newer machines also have an auto shut off when the ice cream gets to a certain thickness to make sure the motor doesn't burn out. There are several different types of ice cream bowls as well. Some have a bowl that you put in the freezer and pre-freeze. Some use rock salt and ice to cool the cream. Most people prefer the rock salt method because you don't have to wait for the bowl to freeze so you can have cream anytime you want it, also most people don't have that much extra space in there freezer to store a bowl. Both manual and electric makers are very good it just depends on how much work you want to put into it and how you want your ice cream experience to go. Either way homemade ice cream is the way to go.

Chopper Lowrider Bikes

Have you seen the lowrider bikes that have become so popular? They instantly catch your eye because they are uniquely designed and look so cool, don't they? They are a big statement that people make and some people connect them with the hip urbanites, but they really appeal to almost anyone-no matter what your age. They not only give you the opportunity to express your personality, but they are also a very comfortable, fun ride, too. Their popularity has become so big, that you can easily find clubs that concentrate on the lifestyle of having a chopper bike.

Where did lowrider bikes come from? They were first seen in the 1960's in California. They were not a mass-produced bike that was being made by the large companies, but they were made by teenagers who were trying to copy the customized motorcycle of the time by combining components from several different bikes. This was to show their individuality. One bicycle manufacturer noticed this new style, however, and began to make their own version of the chopper lowrider bike. This company was Schwinn and in 1963, they introduced the Stingray model, which began the love affair that many people have with this bike.

CHOPPER PRICES

Now lowrider bikes are even more popularity, due to the increased interest in all things retro. Many people love them simply because they bring back memories of happier and simpler times for them. One of the companies who first made lowrider bikes, Raleigh, has updated the chopper lowrider bike for today and they are very popular. Some chopper enthusiasts are choosing to build their own lowriders and customize them to make them into the bike of their dreams. You can find lowrider bikes with all types of customization, including intricate paint jobs, ornaments, and even upholstery, which has made some of these choppers into an art statement.

If you are new to the chopper lowrider world, you will find that there is a great variety of different bikes available for you to purchase in all different price ranges and styles. You can choose an "off the rack" style that you can customize yourself or you can choose to have one built for you from the ground up to your specifications. A custom built chopper bike may be more expensive, but it will fit your body and will express your personality perfectly, which may be worth the extra money for you. Have fun riding!

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 4 Tent Review

The Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 4 tent is the newest in a series of tents from Big Agnes in their Ultra Light line. Thus, the designation of UL, followed by a number from 1-4 is the person capacity of the model tent.

This Big Agnes line of backpacking tents is for serious backpackers and campers. If you are a once or twice a year type of backpacker/camper, then don't waste your money. This is by no means a cheap product. For the once in a blue moon backpacker who needs a tent, there is an abundant selection of good and less expensive tents that will get the job done for you and still keep a few deniros in your pocket.

CHOPPER PRICES

If you are a serious backpacker, then this might be just the right tent for you. Big Agnes products are geared for the more serious backpackers and weekend warriors. When you are trekking up the side of a mountain carrying a load on your back, every extra ounce that you are carrying can make quite a big difference. The lighter the better.

The UL 4 model is a four person, 3 season tent. It is extremely spacious, giving you approximately 57 square feet of indoor space, not including the vestibules. The vestibules, and there are 2 of them add in an additional 13.5 square feet of storage space each. There are also zippered mesh pockets inside to store your stuff.

This is an ultra light tent. Everything about it is designed to save you additional weight. It weighs in at 5lbs, 10 oz, which is really nice. A mesh top and partial mesh sides allow for tremendous weight savings and great ventilation, so that condensation should not be a problem in rainy or humid weather.

This is a freestanding style of tent, with a standing height of just over 4 feet tall. The poles are also made of a super strong and featherlite DAC aluminum. The floor and rain fly are constructed of a nylon ripstop silicone treated and coated with a polyurethane coating, while all the seams are taped giving you a 100% assurance that no water will penetrate inside.

Back in 2008, the UL 4's smaller brother the UL 3 won the editors choice award from Backpacker magazine. This year, for 2011 the editors choice award went to the UL 4. The editors choice award from Backpacker magazine is a very prestigious award that is very difficult to win. If there was an award for a complete series of tent products, The Copper Spur UL line would probably be the winner.

How To Mold Foam Duck Decoys

For the do-it-yourself duck and goose hunter building decoys from foam is a viable option to create a custom decoy spread. Two-part urethane foam will yield a very strong decoy. Molds made of aluminum are available from multiple vendors and work quite well. Besides allowing hunters to build their own decoys, foam decoys do have several advantages over plastic decoys. Like cork decoys, foam decoys are also unsinkable as they are solid foam. Foam decoys will also hold paint better than plastic decoys, but not as good as cork.

dixie plates

The two types of foam used for decoy building are EPS and two-part urethane. An EPS type foam decoy is derived when EPS beads are placed in a mold and then heated in boiling water. This foam is fairly durable and holds paint well. This type of foam is available in different colors. As the decoy paint will eventually wear or chip, black is a good color of choice.

DIXIE

A two-part urethane foam decoy is derived when the two liquid parts are mixed, poured into a mold, and allowed time to expand and harden. This foam is far superior to the EPS type foam. It is much harder, thus more durable. It also holds paint well. No external heat source is required when making decoys of this material. The chemical reaction that takes place when part A and B are mixed will generate a small amount of heat.

When deciding which foam material to use we highly recommend the two-part foam. Although this material is more expensive, urethane decoys will by far outlast EPS foam decoys. Another very important consideration is the safety hazard in using a large container of boiling water that is required to expand EPS beads.

Molds are available for both goose and duck decoys. In most cases the body and head are formed from two separate molds. Decoy molds are usually constructed of aluminum, with some fiberglass molds custom made. When purchasing a body mold an extracting mechanism should be considered. This mechanism is usually a large bolt that can be turned into the mold in order to push the finished product out of the mold. This feature can save you from allot of frustration and is highly recommended. Not all molds have this feature.

A release agent is used to keep the foam from sticking to the mold and will allow you to remove the finished product from the mold. When using a two-part foam car wax in paste form will just fine. When using EPS beads corn oil should be used. We do not recommend using aerosol release agents due to the associated safety hazards.

Large C clamps are used to keep the halves of the mold together. When making bodies we recommend 3" or 4" clamps. 2" clamps can be used for making heads. You will need 4 clamps for body molds, and 2 or 3 clamps for head molds.

Disposable containers such as large Dixie Cups, or plastic paint buckets work really well for measuring and mixing the two-part foam. Dixie cups are cheap enough to through away after 1 or 2 uses. When using the disposable plastic buckets just flex the sides of the bucket and the foam will peel away.

Paint sticks are readily available and work well for stirring and dispensing the two-part foam. Lathe boards are also very economical and available at most lumberyards.

Latex gloves should also be worn building decoys using two-part urethane foam.

We also recommend wearing safety goggles when handling the two-part foam.

We are not listing the proper personal protective equipment for making EPS foam decoys as we do not recommend building these types of decoys due to the safety hazards that exist.

Let's Get Started
Step 1) Remove all foreign material from cavity of mold.

Step 2) Apply release agent to the mold cavity. Be careful to apply release agent to the entire cavity. If using car wax allow several minutes for wax to dry. Do not skip any areas of the mold when apply release agent.

Optional: If you would like an internal keel a lead decoy strap weight can be placed in the bottom of the decoy mold before pouring the foam outlined in the next step.

Step 3) Measure equal portions of part A and part B using a postal scale available at Wal-Mart. Turn power on to scale and weight for 0.0 to appear. After placing container on scale press the "Tare" button. This will zero out the scale. Now pour Part A until desired weight is achieved. Then measure while pouring part B into the same container until double the weight has been achieved. After thoroughly mixing pour foam into one half of the mold. Immediately position the other half of the mold and use C clamps to secure. Most foams will start to expand in about 1.5 to 2.5 minutes so you need to work quickly.

Step 4) After 30 minutes the C clamps can be removed and the mold separated. A large standard (straight blade) screwdriver works well for separating the mold halves. After one half of the mold is separated, a mallet can be used to tap on the remaining mold half. This will help to loosen the foam body or head from the mold. The foam body or head can now be grasped in one hand and the mold in the hand and separated. If the two parts will not separate try taping the edge of the mold on your workbench with the foam body or head below the mold.

Step 5) Use 60 grit sandpaper to remove the edges created from foam expanding between the two halves of the mold. A Dremel tool can also be used for this step.

Step 6) If building foam bodies the keel can now be attached. We recommend using a man made decking material available from most lumberyards. This material is heavier than wood and will last a very long time without even painting or sealing it. We attach the keel using 2 deck screws that are 4" long. A waterproof construction adhesive can also be used to further strengthen this joint.

Step 7) Attach the head of the decoy with either a 1/4" screw eye, or a 4" long deck screw. A washer should also be used between the screw head/eye and decoy body. Use the screw eye for decoy cord attachment, or drill a hold in the front of the key to attach cord.

Scrap Copper Categories

The world has been suffering from pollution for a while now and people are getting affected as well while this is going on. That is why it is uplifting to see groups of people standing up to do something, even in the simplest of ways. There are people who are building up large scale and small scale campaigns against the use of fossil fuel, throwing garbage everywhere, and other things that destroys the environment. Other people promote the use of alternative energy sources like solar power, wind power and the likes. There are also groups who are campaigning to urge people to recycle.

Of all the methods, the simplest but also one of the most effective is recycling. It is the process of re - using materials that are already considered trash. These are materials that don't disintegrate or it doesn't decompose. Materials like plastic, metal, copper and others. Because it doesn't decompose, expect it to linger for a long time, clogging up sewers, contaminating stuff and eventually, it would fill up the planet. But if you re use this, there would be no need or the need for producing this materials would lessen. Like for example, everyday, manufacturers create millions of aluminum cans for soda. But if people would collect these cans and recycle it, the manufacturers would be able to re - use it to make new aluminum cans. See the benefits?

CHOPPER PRICES

This is also applicable for copper. Copper is a strongly reusable material. It doesn't get destroyed easily. You can demolish a house, leave it for a hundred years, weathered and stuff, but you would still get copper out of it. Copper is also a material that is not easy to acquire. The miners can get it but not in great amounts that are why recycling it is a must, a requirement for business to continue. Wait, did I just said "business?" yes, I just did.

You could actually make money out of copper. Junk shops and even manufacturers buy these materials depending on their quality. So for you to know how much you would sell these materials, you should know the scrap copper categories. You can check out your nearest junk shop and ask about it or you could even browse around on the internet to know the latest on the copper market. It's quite easy. All you have to do is Google it or if you know some websites that is trustworthy, check it out.

Copper is categorized into quality and stuff. The highest quality copper and when recycle, you get much money from it, is the No.1 Heavy Scrap Copper, it is then followed by No. 2 Scrap Copper. On the lowest part of the category list is the scrap copper from motors, copper content scrap and other types of scrap copper. It's categorized so that the quality is organized and it is much easier to track the price. Of course, the higher the quality, the easier it is to re use it and the more money you would get out of it.
