Top Five Dirt Biking Trails in Southern California

Dirt biking is a very popular summer time sport. There are many places to go out dirt biking in southern California. The problem is that some of time you find a great place online and get there only to find out it's not at all what you expected.

This is a comprehensive list of very nice dirt biking areas to go. This list also includes motocross tracks in southern California. Motocross tracks are very nice for showing your bike sills off. Here is a top five of the best places to go off-roading in southern California.

DIXIE

1. Gorman-

Gorman offers play for all skill levels. This area has over 20,000 acres of terrain. There are places for beginners to ride around and learn. There are also places for skilled riders to challenge themselves. They have very difficult trails for those of you who are up to the challenge. There is a mixture of hard dirt areas and sandy areas. This park is for dirt bikes, quads, off road 4 wheelers. There are trails to accommodate almost anyone.

2. Cleghorn

Cleghorn is a really nice place. The OHV trails run along the ridge of the mountains. Cleghorn has about 25 miles of trails. It's a bit small but there usually aren't that many people there. The terrain is hard packed dirt.

The main trail is skill level easy and the off shoots from the main trail are medium to expert difficulty.

3. Trestles / Baldy Mesa

Baldy Mesa also known as Trestles is a smaller site as well. The trails wind around the ridge of the mountains. This area has a potential for high winds. The terrain is hard packed dirt with some sandy spots. The skill level for this area is as easy.

4. Rowher Flats

Rowher Flats is Lucerne Valley is a dry lake bed. The lake bed is hard packed but the edges are sandy. This OHV area also has over 20,000 acres of riding area.

The dry lake beds are the ideal place for learners. The beds measure about 2 miles long and roughly 1 mile wide. Outside of the lake beds the terrain gets very sandy with a few hills and rocky spots.

This park has very few marked trails so you can basically ride in any direction you want.

5. Stoddard Valley

Stoddard Valley is a great place for beginners and advanced riders. This area offers 54, 000 acres of open land. This site also allows overnight camping. There are great places for beginners with flat hard packed areas. There are also some very challenging areas for advanced riders with hill climbing and sand washes.

This area has rolling hills, open valleys, Rocky Mountains and sandy washes.
