Number three: Labels do not indicate good from bad fats.

Food labels tell us how much we are getting in grams but not how much we should or should not eat! So we need to know how much is safe for us to eat and if we have health issues then we should do our own research so we can eat salt, sugar, and fat without harm to our organs! The 3 truths about food label ingredients, justifies the statement we are what we eat! Some slim, some robust, some chubby, some fat, some obese, and some normal size for height. There seems to be a lot of information about what is healthy and what is not! Some ingredients in our food are silent killers and we should limit these even when we are young and can handle it!

The three that concerns me are, salt, sugar, and fat? Salt will be the cause cause of hypertension. which will effect our veins, arteries and hearts. Years ago salt was taught as needed in diets to help us have a healthy thyroid but some where along the way we started eating cured hams, bacon from the smoke house cured with salt. Big hams hanging covered with burlap sacks and underneath the sacks were layers of salt. We ate a lot of those but we were very active without computers and very little television. We did not have time to sit on the couch and eat potato chips.

Then along came processed foods, with more salt, bad fats, and last but not least is sugar and these three are considered our real nation wide weight challenge, along with destroying our health. Sugar will be the cause of diabetics, another silent killer! Refined sugar are in the category, natural sugars, like raw honey and maple syrup along with fruit juices are still considered natural sweeteners, but sugar is sugar and these should not be over indulged.

Fat with a question mark, simply because we have good fats and bad fats. Monounsaturated is the good fat and it will lower (LDL) cholesterol and increase (HDL) the good cholesterol, found in nuts, avocado, and canola which is high MUFFS and this will help weight loss and body fat, especially in the stomach area.

Thinking about this is a good thing as we should watch these three with diligence and use them very sparingly. As we age the first thing that hits us is hypertension even though we have been 120/80 all our lives, this came along with no warning. Next thing that comes along is diabetics, and then high cholesterol, a gift from salt and bad fats. Understand the labels and eat these 3 items sparingly!
