Coupons are a great way to save at the register. Manufacturers, promoting their products make coupons available to the consumer. Many times, the store will have a store coupon for the same product, which can be coupled with the manufacturers coupon to give even a greater savings. Be on the lookout for these coupons that can usually be found in your Sunday newspaper ads. They alone have helped me save a tremendous amount over the years.
Another great way of saving is to make use of the 2 for 1 sales that most groceries today hold. For the price of one you receive a second item. In my area I have Winn Dixie, Publix, and Sweetbay. Each of these groceries hold the 2 for 1 sales, although, I prefer the Winn Dixie sales the best. I think they provide the customer with the greatest number of items when running these sales.
Don't forget about free samples. Many manufacturers, in promoting their products to the consumer will provide free samples, It is a great marketing tactic for them and a cost savings for the consumer. Be on the look out for these free samples and stock up on them when ever you can.
The last item on my list is fine tuning your shopping list. To me it is the most important of all of the items. By fine tuning your list you make sure that you are going to get all that you need and not make any unnecessary purchases. Once you make that list and fine tune it make sure that when you do go to the grocery that you adhere to that list. It is easy to get sidetracked by the stores marketing practices. Believe me they have the marketing game down to a science and it is very easy to fall into the marketing trap. Be aware of the marketing tactics used and by all means stick to that list you made before leaving home.
If you follow the above tips for grocery shopping you will be able to save money on each and every trip to the grocery. For more information on savings visit Stretch-Your-Food-Dollar.
